GitHub dashboards and alerts
Chart GitHub numbers on a live dashboard with green, yellow and red targets, refreshed on schedule, with an email or webhook alert when one crosses a line. Slack and Discord incoming webhooks get a short message.
What you can watch
- Weekly commits for the last year
- Open issues and pull requests, once the preview shows the count
Connect with a read-only key
- On GitHub open Settings → Developer settings → Personal access tokens → Fine-grained tokens.
- Generate a new token named “tlly” with an expiry date.
- Repository access: Only select repositories.
- Permissions: Read-only for Metadata, Issues, Pull requests and Actions; nothing else.
Fine-grained tokens with read-only permissions can't push code or change settings. Keys are encrypted at rest and only ever sent to GitHub. GitHub docs
Then ask:
Use the GITHUB_TOKEN secret to chart weekly commits for our repository, and open issues once a preview shows the count.
